Despite common stereotypes, both men and women are prone to be shoe hoarders, and honestly who can blame them?
We all love a good pair of shoes. However, shopping for them can be as stressful as it is fun. With sizing varying with every brand, not to mention every country, it is hard to be confident about your size and shop to your heart’s content. The thorough measuring guide below should help you out with your problem.
Things You Will Need:
- A ruler or a measuring tape
- 2 big pieces of paper
- A pencil
How to Measure
Step 1: Place a piece of paper on the floor and secure it with tape so that it does not move around.
Step 2: Sitting on a chair, put your feet on top of the paper secured to the floor.
Step 3: Trace the outline of your feet. Make sure you are holding your writing tool at a perfect 90 degrees to the paper or floor. If you are holding the pen at a wrong angle, you might be unconsciously tracing inside your foot which will hamper the results.
Step 4: Do the same with your other foot, and make sure to hold your pen perpendicularly. You will notice that the two outlines differ slightly in both width and height.
Step 5: Record the length of your feet by measuring from your longest toe to the tip of your heel. Do keep in mind that the big toe isn’t always the longest.
Step 6: Now, record the width of your feet by measuring the broadest part of your feet.
Step 7: Subtract about 3/16th of an inch to get an accurate measurement of your shoe. The result you get will be your final shoe size measurements.
Now, all you have to do to find your size is use this result and convert it according to the particular country’s shoe size chart.
